The genesis of Conceptual art in the 20th century is crucial for the understanding of contemporary arts. In this seminar, we will analyze canonical pieces of conceptual art and conceptual music and discuss some vital questions in respect to conceptualism such as: Why could conceptual music, in comparison with conceptual art, only fully develop today in the wake of the digital revolution? What is the basic principle of conceptualism, or more specifically, what is the underlying structure of both conceptual music and conceptual art?
